Construction of combined heat and power systems
Cogeneration (also combined heat and power, CHP) is the use of heat or a power station to simultaneously generate both electricity and heat. Because of lower fuel consumption, the use of cogeneration systems provides considerable economic savings. Moreover, if we were to compare this system to heat production in a conventional heating plant and electrical energy production in a condensing power plant, we would have to admit that the use of cogeneration systems is better for ecology. Due to the high efficiency of cogeneration systems by reducing the emission of combustion products into the atmosphere, it is a priority for European Union to promote the cogeneration of high efficiency. The Directive of European Parliament and of the Council, which supports cogeneration, has been implemented by the amendment to the energetic law.
